The Camtraptions Quick Deploy Camera Trap is a complete, high-performance camera-trap system designed for fast deployment, rock-solid reliability, excellent power efficiency and wide-ranging camera compatibility.

Built around the Quick Deploy frame, this system provides everything you need to mount and trigger a DSLR or mirrorless camera with dual off-camera flashes.

The system is designed to work with a wide range of camera systems without compromising on power efficiency. During long periods of inactivity, the camera trap can remain in a low-power standby state, ready to fire instantly whenever the PIR Motion Sensor detects a subject. Crucially, the system is designed so that the camera and flashes wake and trigger together, delivering full flash illumination from the very first shot.

Available in Wired or Wireless Configurations

The Quick Deploy Camera Trap system is available in either wired or wireless versions. Choose which connection type you want using the dropdown box at the top of this page.

Wired:

This version uses completely waterproof cable connections between the sensor, camera and flashes. This eliminates the need for radio receivers, which therefore maximises power efficiency and reduces the number of batteries that need changing.

With light activity, the wired version of the Quick Deploy Camera Trap is capable of lasting for up to 4 months when powered by AA batteries inside the flashes and a lithium NP-F battery inside the sensor. If the camera’s stock battery becomes the limitation, then this can be extended with our External Battery System.

Wireless:

Identical to our Wilderness Camera Trap, but with addition of the Quick Deploy Frame.

Camera trigger and flash signals are handled by the popular Camtraptions wireless trigger system, which is both power-efficient and reliable during long field deployments.

With the wireless version of the Quick Deploy Camera Trap, you have the added freedom to remove and position the sensor or flashes away from the frame, giving you greater flexibility over lighting, sensor placement and composition.

The wireless version of the Quick Deploy Camera Trap is capable of lasting for over 2 months during a typical deployment with light activity.

What’s Included

• Camtraptions Quick Deploy Frame with foldable legs and dual flash arms.
• Weatherproof Camera Housing – provides complete protection for your camera. In the wired version of the system, the Camera Housing is provided with pre-drilled cable entry holes, which can be optionally sealed using supplied waterproof blanking plugs. In the wireless version of the system, there are no pre-drilled cable entry holes in the Camera Housing.
• A PIR Motion Sensor v4 – delivers exceptional performance and reliability.
• Two state of the art Z Pro Flashes with Weatherproof Flash Housings.

Wired version includes:

• A set of IP68-rated waterproof signal cables to connect the camera, flashes and sensor. Five re-usable hook-and-loop cable ties are included to keep the cabling neat and secure.
  

Wireless version includes:

• Camtraptions Wireless Triggers for triggering the camera and the flashes whenever the PIR Motion Sensor v4 makes a detection. AA battery and C battery holders are also provided for maximising the life of the wireless triggers.

Camera, lens, memory card and batteries not included.

Free Camera Connecting Cable

The Quick Deploy Camera Trap is compatible with many DSLR and mirrorless camera models from Canon, Nikon, Sony, Panasonic, Fuji, Olympus and OM System.

A compatible camera connecting cable is included free with every purchase of a Quick Deploy Camera Trap, however, the correct cable must still be selected and added to your cart separately from the Camera Connecting Cables page.

Portable, Adjustable and Tool-Free

The Quick Deploy Camera Trap is designed to be moved, positioned and adjusted with minimal fuss in the field. The integrated carry handle allows the entire assembled system to be picked up and repositioned at a moment’s notice — ideal when fine-tuning your composition, responding to changing animal behaviour, or moving quickly between potential camera-trap locations.

The flashes and motion sensor are each mounted on compact ball heads, allowing them to be independently oriented for precise control over lighting and trigger positioning. This makes it easy to angle the flashes for natural off-camera illumination while separately aiming the sensor exactly where you need detection to occur.

Once assembled, the Quick Deploy Camera Trap can be used and adjusted completely tool-free. The robust thumbscrews provide secure, reliable locking for the legs and flash arms, while still allowing rapid adjustments in the field. The result is a sturdy, practical and fuss-free system that can be deployed, repositioned and refined without needing to carry any tools.

Battery Requirements and Recommendations

Batteries are not included with the Quick Deploy Camera Trap.

For best performance, we recommend the following:

• PIR Motion Sensor v4: lithium NP-F970 battery. See this page for more information.
• Z Pro Flashes: alkaline or Ni-MH rechargeable AA batteries, 4x AA batteries per flash.
• Camera: the camera’s internal battery can be used as standard.
• Wireless Triggers (wireless version only): alkaline or Ni-MH rechargeable C batteries, (6x C batteries in total for the system).

For extended camera battery life, the camera can also be powered using NP-F batteries via the Camtraptions External Battery System for Cameras, purchased separately.

Recommended Additions

For long-term outdoor deployments, we also recommend:

• Re-usable Silica Moisture-absorbing Packs — useful for helping to control moisture inside the Camera Housing or Flash Housings.

• Camouflage Net — ideal for helping the setup blend into natural surroundings.

• A set of four 500mm legs — allows the standard 300mm legs to be swapped for longer 500mm ones, useful for providing extra height when photographing certain subjects or for when the camera needs to see over taller vegetation.
