The Z Pro Flash is the most power-efficient speedlight ever created, able to remain on standby for over a year when powered by four standard AA batteries, all while remaining ready to fire instantly and after weeks of inactivity.

The Z Pro’s efficiency also allows it to fire many more shots than competing speedlights. With a single set of four AA batteries, the Z Pro can fire over 1,000 times at 1/4 power, over 2,500 times at 1/16 power and over 4,800 times at 1/64 power.

Camtraptions 6V Ni-MH Rechargeable Flash Batteries and power cables can be used for even longer standby and higher shot counts. The Z Pro can also be connected to a 1W Solar Panel and Solar Adapter Cable for virtually unlimited life.

Innovative Features Built for Camera Trapping

• The Z Pro features the same tried and tested form-factor and robust construction as previous Camtraptions flashes. Its zoomable head allows you to adjust the spread of the flash coverage for greater positioning flexibility and creative control.
• With its unique capacitor top-up control, the Z Pro keeps flash brightness perfectly consistent. No more under-exposed first images after long periods of inactivity.
• A new Lock Mode feature helps to prevent accidental setting changes when swapping flash batteries.
• All indicator LEDs, LCD screen and backlight can be disabled to ensure optimum efficiency and discreetness.

Compatibility

The Z Pro features a TTL-style hot shoe with a wake signal pin, allowing it to remain in ultra-efficient standby mode and wake just before the shot. In contrast, our F1 and Z2 flashes do not require a wake signal before triggering, making them simpler to set up with different camera systems but at the expense of power efficiency.

To use the Z Pro with a particular camera brand, a suitable wake signal must be sent before the first shot. This can be achieved in both wireless and wired setups, as outlined below:

Wireless flash systems:

The Z Pro is fully compatible with Canon and Nikon cameras when using Camtraptions Wireless Flash Triggers and either a Wireless PIR Motion Sensor v3 or PIR Motion Sensor v2. This is because both Canon and Nikon cameras automatically send a wake signal which is transmitted by the wireless trigger.

For other camera systems, such as Sony, Panasonic, Olympus or Fuji, that do not send a wake signal before triggering, the Z Pro remains fully compatible when combined with the Camtraptions Wireless PIR Motion Sensor v3 and Wireless Flash Triggers. For these camera brands, our Wireless PIR Sensor v3 can send the necessary wake signal directly to the flashes whilst the camera is waking up and with no extra delay being caused.

Wired flash systems:

Many different camera brands, such as Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fuji, Olympus and Panasonic are fully compatible with the Z Pro in a wired setup. For all brands, it is necessary to use a Camtraptions Wired Flash Adapter (available to pre-order here) plus a Flash Hot Shoe Adapter on the camera’s flash hot shoe to ensure that both “wake” and “shoot” signals are correctly transmitted to the Z Pro Flash. Our existing Flash Splitter Cables, Camtraptions Flash Cables, 10m Flash Extension Cables and the Waterproof Cable System can then be used to connect one or many Z Pro Flashes in a wired setup.
