Male to Male Waterproof Flash Cable
One of these cables must be used on every branch of the cable system that connects into a Camtraptions Flash. The cable features a male connector at each end, and a middle section which safely and efficiently regulates the flow of current to the correct level required by Camtraptions flashes. The overall length of this cable is 0.5m.
The Male to Male Waterproof Flash Cable also contains an automatic cut-out system, which protects your flash unit in the event that too many high-power flash bursts are triggered in a short space of time. The cut-out system only reinstates power to the flash after a suitable time period has passed, giving the flash time to cool down before automatically resuming normal functionality again. This is particularly useful in the event that a connection short-circuit or equipment malfunction leads to uncontrolled triggering of the flashes.
This cut-out system will usually only activate if a high power setting is selected on the flash and it is triggered multiple times in a short period of time. When the flash is set to a low power setting then the cut-out system is unlikely to ever interrupt the power supply to the flash.
Note: Any AA batteries inside a Camtraptions Flash must be removed before connecting it to an external power source through the Waterproof Cable System.
Please see here for examples of how this cable can be used as part of a complete camera trap system.
What is the Waterproof Cable System?
The Camtraptions Waterproof Cable System offers a new way to set up and provide power to camera traps. The cables within this new system contain 5 cores: two high-current power wires and three signal wires. The system can therefore carry trigger signals between devices (such as from a camera to the flashes), as well as provide power to all of these devices from a single set of batteries, stored in an accessible central enclosure.
